Merry Christmas!

Christmas is such a great holiday, it gives us the opportunity to give to others and make memories with our loved ones. It is easy to get wrapped up in the joy of the presents and treats, but what will bring us the most joy this season is by remembering the birth of
Jesus Christ.
Even thinking more deeper into it...
As a woman, how do you think Mary felt being the mother of the Savior?
How did she prepare herself emotionally?
How did she feel when she looked at her son for the first time, the Son of God who would save the world?
We hope you all have such a great Christmas and that you feel the joy of the birth of
Jesus Christ!

Lesson by Alyssa Piper, Dec. 12, Gift of The Holy Ghost

What is the Holy Ghost?
It is the comforter
A member of the Godhead
Speaks with a still small voice
Personage of spirit and not of body
Bears witness of all truth
A gift of happiness and enjoyment
Helps to purify our hearts

Once you receive the Holy Ghost by the laying on of hands, you can have it with you always to guide and comfort you. The Holy Ghost is a direct connection to our Heavenly Father, what an amazing gift that is. It shows Heavenly Father's love for us that he really wants us to return to him and that we are never alone. It helps us to learn and know what is true so that we can grow and stay on the right path.

How can we always have the Holy Ghost?
We can make sure that we are in a safe and rightous place where he can also be
By reading our scriptures and praying everyday
By not doing or saying things that would offend the Holy Ghost
Be listening for it and being open to receiving it

Lesson by Rebecca, Spiritual Warnings & Teaching our Children, Nov 28th

We need to be doing rightous things in life to have the spirit with us, so that we can see and hear it's warnings. Some examples..
Reading the scriptures and discussing them
Praying daily
Sharing our testimony with our spouse, children, families, friends and neighbors
By doing these things you will have the spirit with you and in your home. Not only does the spirit comfort and bring us peace but it protects us from the adversary that is always trying to destroy us as we are Heavenly Fathers children. The Book of Mormon is a precious tool full of warnings for us to learn and to teach our children. When you feel the spirit your children also feel it. Encourage and show your children by example to follow the spirit and receive knowledge. We can't just tell them, we need to show them and do it with them. If we do not teach our children, the world will. Teach them to act, and not be acted apon.

Lesson Ch. 19 Repentance by Hannah Ball

What is sin?
What are some problems that sin causes in our lives?
We are not all perfect and we all make mistakes, but we are blessed to have repentance because of the atonement of Jesus Christ.
Alma 42: 29-30 talks about sin and repentance
There are 7 steps of repentance and they are the same for everyone because we are all equal and no one is better than someone else.
Step 1- Recognize we have sinned and not justify it
Step 2- Feel sorrow and abandon our sins. You can pray for the desire and strength to let it go.
Remember the Lord doesn't want us to despair or become depressed. He wants us to have hope to do better along with our sorrow.
Step 3- Stop our sins
Step4- Confess our sins humbly to the Lord
Step 5- Make restitution, make it right
Step 6- Forgive others and forgive yourself!
Step 7- Keep the commandments of God
Through repentance this is how we experience wonderful joy and become perfect like Christ!

Looking Back & Looking Forward-Lesson by Hannah Nov 7th

How many of you remember the story of Lots wife?
The Lord instructed Lot to flee Sodom and Gomorrah, as they where leaving Lots wife turned back to look at the city she was leaving behind. Because she looked back the Lord turned her into salt. But the most important part is that it wasn't just because she looked back, in her heart she longed to go back. She wasn't willing to follow the Lord and her desires where more important than her Heavenly Fathers.
We are living in the present and preparing for the future. We cannot sit on both sides of the fence, we have to choose the Lords way or the adversaries way. Focusing on the future helps to strengthen our faith and trust in our Father in Heaven. Fear will always keep us from progression, and our purpose here is to progress to return home.
Philippians Ch. 3:13-14
Paul is a great example of faith and moving forward.
If something has been buried in the past, leave it buried. Don't be tied to mistakes, your own and others. It will only cause more frustration and despair. It is required for us to forgive others, even ourselves! Do not dwell on your mistakes, Christ has forgiven you, now you need to forgive yourself. Accept his loving gift to you, know that you are not perfect and you will make mistakes.
Let go of the past, enjoy the present and have hopes and dreams for the future!

Tithing, talk by Bishopric Oct. 31st

Tithing,
As newly married couples it can be a real struggle financially. A lot of us pay for rent, school, bills, children etc. It can be difficult to pay tithing, but in the end it's more difficult not to. The Lord blesses us immensely when we pay our tithing, it's an amazing thing to experience that trust and bond with your Heavenly Father. Paying our tithing is showing the Lord our faith and obedience.
What are some of the blessings you have received from paying your tithing?
Have you also seen others blessed by paying theirs?
As we have faith and do this it opens a window for our Father to bless us. He has made us promises and he will always fulfill them because he is from everlasting to everlasting.
D&C 119:3-7 Talks more about tithing

Lesson 18 by Kaydee Oct. 17th

Faith without works is nothing. There are many things we want/need in life but we need to do our part and not expect blessings to come. When we do what we can and have faith, the blessings the Lord gives us are wonderful.
In what ways can you increase your faith?
What are some blessings that follow faith?
Your faith is what keeps you firm and strong when temptations and trials come. Your faith can also bring you and your loved ones many miracles.
Faith=Blessings=Strengthening Testimony

Lesson 17 by Kaela on Oct. 10th

The Church of Jesus Christ Today
We can individually receive specific and unique guidance from our Heavenly Father, this is called revelation. This is a blessing and a gift that can help us through our lives.
Think about some things the prophets have taught us in our lifetime...
The most important prophet is the one that is here and now, not in the past. We respect, honor and learn from our past prophets but we need new guidance for our days. Things in life always change, we have new and different struggles, that is why we need a modern day prophet. The gospel does not change, but the specific things we need are more emphasized. Truth is truth and thats unchanging. How lucky we are to have this gospel, this knowledge and a living prophet to help us.

Cooking Class

On Saturday the 23rd of October we will be having a cooking class for our relief society! It will be at the church at 10:00 a.m. We will be learning menu planning, basic cooking skills, food storage, etc.

Our ward temple night will be on September 8th which is a Wednesday. "While each temple increases the influence of righteousness in the earth, the greatest blessings, of course, come to those who actually attend the temple." President Ucthdorf
With all the things going on in our lives we need help from our Heavenly Father. As we go to the temple we can receive peace, discernment, love and comfort. Our Father always has time for us...let us make time for him and come closer to him so that he can bless us. We hope that all of you can make it!

Service

On Sunday we had a combined lesson taught by Brother Kjar, Brother Larsen and Bishop Bailey. They chose to speak on service and wanted to express the importance of it. Service is a chance to reach out and help someone in need. It strengthens others and yourself. There is a great need for service everywhere you look. By giving of ourselves we are following Christs example and as we do so we can receive wonderful blessings in our lives. We are Christs hands and it's our duty to move the church forward. Be observant for opportunities and don't let them pass you by.
Why do we Serve?
Participant answers: By serving others I myself feel more complete
My Father taught me if I am ever having a hard time to give service because giving service makes me happy. When you serve it's easy to forget about your problems.

As husband and wife it is essential to serve each other and to discuss how you both are going to serve your family. Remember that being a Patriarch and a Matriarch is for time and all eternity. The greatest work you will do will be within the walls of your own home. You all have a life of service ahead of you and you have so much to offer. You are all important in our Heavenly Fathers plan, be prepared to move His work forward. When the Lord calls I hope you will be the first to stand.

And upon the handmaids in those days will I pour our my spirit

Today in Relief Society, Kaylyn Cable gave a wonderful lesson on Julie B Becks talk "And upon the handmaids in those days will I pour our my spirit." How does one increase faith? Straighten families? Provide relief? 1)Personal Revelation can come any hour by hour and moment by moment as we do the right things.Keeping the commandments, repenting and renewing covenants also adds spiritual strength and power to a woman's life. Many answers to difficult questions are found by reading the scriptures because scripture are an aid to revaluation.Relief Society-Teaching, Inspiring and strengthening is provided by the Lord in his wisdom to help his daughters in these latter days.Relief society lifts women up and out of a troubled world and into a way of living that prepares them for the blessing of eternal life.Through Relief Society, women can receive answers to their questions and be blessed by the combined spiritual powers of all the sisters.
